I first visited Zanzibar in 1989, and then worked with the Tanzanian Media Women’s Association (TAMWA) here for a year (1993-94). Now I’ve been living here for the past 6 years, and have been with SEA for nearly 4 years. I was a founder of the Creative Festival of Water [link], a creative community event, which took place on the beach at Matemwe, NE Zanzibar. My work in UK has been with the creative and cultural industries. Then, following my passion for the built environment, I completed an MSc in Urban Regeneration at the Bartlett School of Planning, and then took up a position with The Glass-House Community-Led Design[link]. I am particularly interested in the Arts community in Zanzibar and pursuing an interest in Permaculture as a sustainable approach.
